Appleton, WI… Today, Senator Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon) was presented with the Legislator of the Year Award by the American Legion, Department of Wisconsin for his leadership and work on behalf of more than 400,000 veterans living in Wisconsin.
“Ensuring that our fellow Legionnaires in Wisconsin have their voices heard in the State Legislature is a top priority of the American Legion, Department of Wisconsin,” said Department Commander Ken Rynes. “Senator Petrowski has been one of our staunchest allies in this mission and I am very pleased to recognize him with our prestigious Legislator of the Year Award, an honor he most certainly deserves.”
This session, Senator Petrowski authored and passed a number of veterans’ initiatives, including the creation of a grant program for nonprofit organizations serving veterans, reduced-fee sporting licenses for combat wounded veterans, and laying the groundwork for a modernized skilled nursing facility at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be recognized by the American Legion,” said Senator Petrowski. “I am truly thankful for the opportunity to advocate on behalf of the men and women who have served our country so courageously. I am proud of the work accomplished this session, and I remain committed to bettering the lives of our current and former military service members across the state.”

Senator Petrowski was presented the award on Saturday, July 19, at the 96th annual American Legion state convention at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton, Wisconsin.
